Dundee's local MSPs praise hard work of Tay Cities Deal submission
The Tay Cities Deal submission was launched on Friday 3rd February, with the Leader of Dundee City Council, Cllr Ken Guild, representing the city.
The Tay Cities Deal submission is filled with ambitious plans, and if successful then our port here in Dundee will become a hub for decommissioning in the UK.
We have done a lot of hard work behind the scenes to ensure the Dundeecom section of the submission is one of the central areas of the deal. Joe and I will continue to support and work to secure this deal, alongside our colleagues at Dundee City Council who have worked tirelessly to put Dundee at the forefront of the Tay Cities Deal submission.
My colleague, Joe FitzPatrick, MSP for Dundee City West, also commented on this achievement:
“These negotiations have been going on for over a year now, and to say otherwise suggests that certain people are out of touch with local news.
“Shona and I met with Charles Hammond, Chief Executive of Forth Ports, last year, and we discussed the importance of harnessing the asset we have right here in Dundee, and the success that could bring in terms of securing offshore renewable jobs as well as decommissioning opportunities for now and into the future.”
