MSP WELCOMES FUNDING BOOST TO COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS
I have this week welcomed huge funding boosts for two groups within her constituency.
Showcase the Street and RockSolid Youth Project have been awarded £149,200 and £372,361 respectively.
Showcase the Street will deliver a programme of recreational and educational family based activities from their base in Maryfield, Dundee. This will include a regular after school club which will provide a range of opportunities including arts, sports, cooking, SQA qualifications and a sit down family meal for those involved.
RockSolid Youth Project will be used to deliver three distinct strands of activities for young people in Douglas: creative arts, sports and youth bank activity. This three-year activity will involve 500 young people aged 12-18 and provide volunteering opportunities to 60 young people.
I am delighted that these two fantastic organisations are to benefit from over half a million pounds between them. These generous awards will benefit the people of my constituency in a positive and progressive way. Both organisations are clearly putting their efforts into creating a healthier society, through sports and education on cooking, which I wholly welcome and I hope to see more of in the years and months to come.
I have visited both organisations and have seen the incredible work they do within our communities, and wish them all of the best for their future ventures.
