This week it was announced that the Scottish Government is to invest an additional £1.75 billion in affordable housing across Scotland until 2021. This will include nearly £50 million being invested in Dundee.
This is an excellent and welcomed announcement from the Scottish Government, and one that will hugely benefit Dundee as a whole. For the first time ever, it gives financial certainty to the Council and house-builders who are hoping to help the Scottish Government reach its target of 50,000 new affordable homes by 2021.
Everyone in Scotland is entitled to a warm and affordable home, and increasing the supply available in our communities is a key SNP commitment. I look forward to working with the Council and the Government over the coming years to ensure this commitment is met.
