SHONA ROBISON MSP PRAISES DUNDEE NURSERY ON SECURING EU FUNDING
JESSIE PORTER NURSERY TO USE €26,820 TO DEVELOP EARLY YEARS SERVICE Shona Robison MSP has praised the Jessie Porter Nursery for securing €26,820 of Eramus+ EU funding to develop its early years’ service.
2017 has seen Scotland receiving its largest ever allocation of Erasmus+ EU funding – up nearly €5m since last year.
Figures from the British Council and Ecorys UK, the National Agency delivering the European Union scheme in the UK, show that a total of €21m is being shared by 150 Scottish organisations working in a range of sectors such as colleges, schools and universities. The Jessie Porter Nursery was successful in applying for €26,820 as part of a recent funding round.
Local MSP for Dundee City East, Shona Robison, visited the Jessie Porter Nursery to congratulate them on securing the European funding and learn more about their plans to develop the early years’ programme.
Commenting, Shona Robison MSP said:
“The Jessie Porter Nursery should be congratulated on securing this funding. I was delighted to visit the nursery and learn about how the funding will allow them to develop and enhance their provision of early year’s services. I would strongly encourage more local organisations to engage with Erasmus+ and apply for funding.
“At a time of so much uncertainty from the UK Government around Brexit, it is important to acknowledge that European Union funding is supporting local communities through organisations here in Dundee City East. This is a clear demonstration of the overwhelmingly positive benefits of engaging and maintaining strong relations with our European neighbours.”
