SHONA CALLS FOR SCANDINAVIAN FERRY ROUTES TO COME TO DUNDEE
Dundee City East MSP, Shona Robison, is backing a campaign by SNP MSP for Falkirk East, Angus MacDonald, to re-establish passenger ferry routes between Scandinavia and Scotland.
And Shona Robison MSP has stated that bringing these ferry routes to Dundee could be of huge benefit to the city.
Commenting, Shona said:
“Opening up new ferry routes between Scandinavia and Dundee would be a fantastic opportunity to boost our local tourism economy. “Not only would local residents have increased opportunities to explore Scandinavia for themselves, these ferries could transform Dundee into a modern gateway into Scotland. A ferry service would create new jobs, be further investment into Dundee’s resurgent waterfront and encourage more visitors from abroad to discover and celebrate all that our city has to offer. Strengthening our connections with our Nordic neighbours in this way would undoubtedly be to our mutual benefit. “Given that the UK has had no direct passenger ferries to Scandinavia since 2014, this would be an opportunity to offer something truly unique here in Dundee. Angus MacDonald has an exciting proposal and I would be delighted to further discuss the opportunities a ferry service could bring.”
