MSP Shona Robison has announced she will again be seeking the nomination to be the candidate for Dundee City East in the Scottish Parliamenatry elections in 2021.
Ms Robison is a long standing member of the Scottish Parliament and will have served 22 years by the time of Scottish Parliamentary elections in 2021. Ms Robison has held the Dundee City East constituency seat since 2003, having served as a regional member for North East Scotland prior to this.
During her Parliamentary service, Ms Robison has undertaken a number of Ministerial roles in the SNP-led Scottish Government and currently serves on three important Parliamentary Committees. Last year, she was appointed by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as Chair of the Social Justice and Fairness Commission, which is building the policy framework for an independent Scotland.
Shona Robison MSP said:
“It has been an honour to serve this constituency over the years, and I am very fortunate to have a hard working team of staff that ensure my office goes the extra mile to help constituents with any issues they bring to me. This has been particularly important during the current COVID crisis as many people have been looking for advice and support through these challenging times.
“Over the years, I’ve been proud to represent the interests of my constituents and the city along with helping to secure investment and opportunities for Dundee and its people.
"I campaigned hard to secure the commitments of the various partners to bring the V&A to Dundee which has been a catalyst for change.
"I lobbied to secure Dundee as the chosen location for the new Scottish Social Security Agency.
"Most recently, I helped get support for the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc, which is transforming a challenging and difficult closure of the tyre factory into an ambitious joint venture and an opportunity for hundreds of new green jobs in the city.
"I will continue to work for the people of Dundee City East on the issues that matter to them.
“Next year’s Holyrood election will be the most important yet. To win independence we need to continue to win in Dundee City East and I have the profile and experience to make that happen. We will not take anything for granted and will work hard to continue to earn the right to serve the people of this constituency.
“If reselected to fight this seat next year, I commit to continue working hard on local issues and to play my part on the national stage of Scotland’s Parliament.”
